Ken Griffey and Jeff Brantley Brawl… Is the Media Racist?

Juicy news about Mr. Junior Griffey and Jeff Brantley (the reds announcer). Long story short, according to Cincinnati Reds beat writer Hal McCoy, after knocking #607 out of the park, Griffey showed a throat slash motion when crossing home plate. This was intended for Brantley. Apparently Junior is mad about negative comments Brantley made about him.
What I don’t like about this is Griffey gets off virtually scott free. If a white player made a throat slash gesture at home plate (directed at a white announcer) he would be severely reprimanded. If a white player made that gesture at a black announcer, he would face a multigame suspension, and probably loose every endorsement deal he has. Lately, the media has come to the defense of black players way too much. Lately much has been made about how there are not enough black players in the game, the dugout, and the back office.
If the media is going to consistently come to the defense of the black player, they should also hold them to the same standard as the white player. To me, the media couldn’t be more racist in allowing Griffey to get away with these actions.
