• Dallas Cowboys Roster Cuts - Just About Everyone From Hard Knocks

August 31st, 2008 | By InGameNow Posted in NFL

The Dallas Cowboys have announced their final roster cuts and it’s just about every personality you got to know and like from HBO’s Hard Knocks:

    - wide receiver talent Todd Lowber
    - short but energetic tight end Drew Atchinson
    - Ray Lewis’s brother Keon Lattimore

The Cowboys cut receivers Danny Amendola, Mark Bradford, Mike Jefferson and Todd Lowber on Saturday. A mild surprise considering the numerous injuries the Cowboys have suffered at receiver.

The Cowboys also cut tight ends Drew Atchison and Rodney Hannah, nose tackles Remi Ayodele and Junior Siavii, quarterback Richard Bartel, running backs Alonzo Coleman and Keon Lattimore, fullback Julius Crosslin, safety Dowayne Davis, defensive ends Marcus Dixon and Marcus Smith, linebackers Tearrius George, Darrell Robertson, Tyson Smith and Erik Walden, tackle Ryan Gibbons and Cory Lekkerkerer.

  • Skydiver Crashes Duke Football Game - Supposed to Do UNC Football!

August 31st, 2008 | By InGameNow Posted in NCAA FB

And the Duke / University of North Carolina (UNC) rivalry just got a little more bizarre. As both North Carolina colleges kicked off their NCAA Football campaigns yesterday, a skydiver was supposed to land in the UNC stadium for some pregame festivities. After some miscommunication / misunderstanding, he arrived in Durham and Duke’s pregame. Ummmm….. this is weird!

  • Texas Longhorns Lamarr Houston Charged with DWI

August 31st, 2008 | By InGameNow Posted in NCAA FB

The incident happened only a few hours after Houston started in the Longhorns’ 52-10 season-opening victory over Florida Atlantic.

Austin police Lt. Max Johnson said Houston was involved in a two-car accident where there were no injuries. The accident occurred about 3:15 a.m. at the intersection of 11th Street and Interstate 35, Johnson said.

Since coaches know these guys drink, they should mandate team rides.  I mean seriously you can’t stop these guys from partying so at least help them get home safe??  Bad idea/good idea….I have no idea but if I was a coach I would figure out a way to keep my kids safe and out of jail.jamaalcharles.jpg

  • Sarah Palin Sportscaster Video - Is This Our New Vice President?!

August 31st, 2008 | By InGameNow Posted in Uncategorized

Holy smokes batman… I’m not sure which question is more pressing… ask yourself as you watch Sarah Palin, McCain’s vice presidential mate, navigate the sports desk in ways that make Stu Scott nauseas:

    - what the hell is wrong with her hair?
    - is this really our future vice president?
    - or, why didn’t the sportscasting gig work out?

  • Nebraska Cornhusker Football Begins the Pelini-Era

August 31st, 2008 | By InGameNow Posted in InGameNow, NCAA FB

Nebraska set up the beginning of Bo Pelini’s career as the head coach of the Cornhusker’s perfectly. Nebraska’s first 5 games are at the friendly confines of Lincoln Memorial Stadium, including all 4 of their non-conference games. Only one of these non-conference teams are of any threat to the Cornhuskers: Virginia Tech. And as we saw earlier today against East Carolina, the Hokies may not be as good as previously thought.

But I am not faulting Nebraska’s athletic department. After years of dominance under Tom Osborne, Nebraska has been looking for a consistent leader of their team. Frank Solich had his wins, but parted ways after a mediocre 2002 year, and key loses towards the end of 2003. Bill Callahan led mediocre teams that Cornhusker faithful would like to forget.

So, how did the Bo Pelini-era begin? With a win, as intended! Western Michigan was no match for Pelini’s Cornhuskers and fell behind 17-0 within the first few seconds of the 2nd quarter. By half-time Nebraska led 34-10 and coasted in for the victory at home. In a creative change to the historical Nebraska wishbone, Joe Ganz led the Cornhuskers with 315 yards passing, going 19/31 with 4 TDs and 1 interception.

The Huskers looked good, but I am waiting to praise them until they face Virginia Tech and Missouri in back-to-back weeks starting September 27th.
