• Michigan Football - Best Moments in the Past 20 Years

Saturday starts what might be a tough season for us Wolverine fans - wanted to take a few minutes and relive some of the amazing times we have had over the past 20 years… If you have other highlights you think should have made this list, post them here.

1991 - Desmond Howard’s Catch (vs. Notre Dame) With Michigan trying to avoid a fourth-straight loss to Notre Dame, the Wolverines faced a 4th-and-1 in Fighting Irish territory late in the game. Elvis Grbac found a laid-out Howard in the back of the end zone for the winning score - flat out one of the most amazing grabs ever. Not to mention, Michigan calling a pass on 4th and 1 - are you kidding me:

1991 - Desmond Howard Heisman Pose (vs. Ohio State) Howard returned a Buckeye punt 93 yards for a touchdown, prompting Keith Jackson to proclaim “Hello Heisman!” when he crossed the goal line. Obviously unaware of Jackson’s well-timed comments, Howard simultaneously struck the pose of the historic trophy, marking one of the most memorable moments in the history of college football:

1994- Remy Hamilton’s Game Winning FG (vs. Notre Dame) Down 24-23 with less than a minute remaining in South Bend, Todd Collins drove Michigan the length of the field setting Remy Hamilton up for a last second 42-yard Field Goal… watch the last minute of the game for yourself:

1995- 17-point 4th Quarter Comeback (vs. Virginia) Scott Dreisbach is not a name that regularly stands-out among the great Michigan QBs of the past 20 years, but in the 1995 season-opening Pigskin Classic against Virginia, he spearheaded a 18-point fourth quarter comeback, capped by a last-second touchdown pass to WR Mercury Hayes:

1995- Tim Biakabutuka: 313 yard game (vs. Ohio State) In what was expected to be the cap to a Heisman Trophy season from Eddie George, Touchdown Tim showed him up by going off for over 300 yards leading Michigan to a victory over the previously-undefeated Buckeyes:

1997- Charles Woodson, Best Interception Ever (vs. Mich State) While this game eventually became a blowout, no play better showcases the complete dominance of the Michigan Defense and Charles Woodson in 1997 than his one handed, leaping interception of a ball MSU QB Todd Schultz is clearly trying to throw into the stands:

1997- Michigan 20 - Ohio State 14 This was THE game that made the dream of a National Championship a reailty and sealed the Heisman Trophy for Charles Woodson - Woodson won his head-to-head battle with the vocal David Boston, had a an Interception in the End Zone, a Punt Return for a TD, and a key 37-yard catch on the drive resulting in Michigan’s only offensive TD of the game… the highlights are amazing:

2004- Braylon Edwards 3TDs in 17 Point Comeback (vs. Michigan State) Braylon Edwards made unbelievable plays on two touchdown passes to help Michigan erase a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit in just 5:44 and grabbed a third TD in triple overtime to lift the Wolverines to a 45-37 win over Michigan State.
