• Who has the Best Sports Facial Hair? You Decide!

Every person wants to be unique, and this goes for athletes, too. They can’t all look like Johnny Unitas with a clean-cut flattop that would make my grandfather proud:

So, if you don’t look like Johnny U, what do you do? You enter the InGameNow Playoff for Best Sports Facial Hair!! We have 4 Divisions: the Stache Division, the Gotee Division, the coveted Full Beard Division, and the always exciting I Have No Idea How to Classify That Division. Each Division will get a Day to be decided with the top 2 vote getters, going on to the Semi-Finals! To Vote, log onto InGameNow, and post your vote on the Other page as linked below.

Now, without further ado - let’s begin with the Stache Division. Now, whether they can’t grow the full thing without bald spots or they just like filtering their soup, here are our 8 contestants, in no particular order:

Lanny McDonald - He played for 18 seasons in the NHL with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Colorado Rockes, and Calgary Flames, amassing 1,006 points during his career. But what can be remembered better is his team color matching red mustache!

Rollie Fingers - He was a relief pitcher in the Major Leagues from 1968 - 1985 with the Athletics, Padres, and Brewers. He enters this list do to receiving $300 from the A’s owner to grow this mustache!

Joe Namath - Joe is known mostly for his Hall of Fame career with the New York Jets and being the alter-ego of Johnny Unitas. His flowing locks of hair are recognizable still, but he did sport quite the mustache also, in his day.

Sparky Lyle - Apparently, only relief pitchers have great mustaches. Lyle was the 1977 Cy Young Award Winner while playing for the Yankees. He was replaced 2 years later by a later member of this list Goose Gossage, but he had a great career with a 2.88 ERA and 238 saves. Not to mention a great mustache!

George Parros - As our second hockey player on the list, Parros is actually still playing. He played on the 2007 Anaheim Ducks team that won the Stanley cup, but has a very close resemblance to Mike Tyson’s Punchout opponent Von Kaiser!

Dale Earnhardt, Sr. - Unfortunately, everyone knows about the way that Dale, Sr. passed away. But he should be celebrated for his life, skills, and mustache. In addition to winning 76 races and being nicknamed “The Intimidator” during his career, he still has one of the most recognizable mustaches in sports history.

Goose Gossage - Let’s take this moment to congratulate Goose for his recent and long-awaited induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame! This journeyman played for 9 Major League teams, spending the most years with the New York Yankees. He wasn’t a slouch, though, as he made 9 All-Star appearances during his career. And, he probably impressed the fans of the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks (where he spent the 1990 season) with this mustache:

Adam Morrison - Last, but certainly not least, is the youngest contender. That’s right Dirty Sanchez, I mean Adam Morrison who sported this mustache on draft day when he was picked by the Bobcats. He hasn’t done, much in his career yet, but how can you deny him being on this list?

So make you votes at InGameNow by following the link below. And, don’t forget to check in tomorrow for the Gotee Division for those athletes that choose to be a little more daring and leave some more on their chin!
