OJ Simpson Will Get 18 Years in Prison

OJ Simpson has spent the last nine weeks in a jail cell awaiting his sentencing, after being pronounced guilty of kidnapping and robbery in October. On Friday morning, District Court Judge Jackie Glass will pronounce his sentence, which will likely be a prison sentence of 18 years or more.
This stems from the incident that occured on September 13, 2007 when Simpson and 6 others stormed into a Las Vegas hotel room with guns demanding Simpson memorabilia be returned to him. As it turned out, none of the memorabilia actually belonged to him, and the jury found Simpson guilty of 12 charges of kidnapping, robbery, coercion and burglary.
Recently filed court documents suggest probation offers are recommending an 18 year sentence with no parole, meaning Simpson may be behind bars until he’s 79. And that sentence may be served in a maximum security prison in Ely, NV.
Simpson’s lawyers admit the best outcome would be six years in jail before the possibility of parole, but promise to appeal, based primarily on the selection process that drew a jury without any African-Americans.
