This Week in Sports June 14th - 20th

Now as I get down off my soap box I think it’s a good time to mention that the College World Series is going on in Omaha, Nebraska! So why am I excited? It’s not because I give a crap about who wins the College World Series, it’s because it means that baseball fans will be treated to TWO WEEKS of Erin Andrews at the College World Series!!

Punch-Out Is Back: Little Mac to be Trained By Clay Davis from The Wire

Remember the adrenaline rush you got the first time you earned the chance to go up against then heavyweight champion of the world Mike Tyson in Punch-Out? Well the game that started it all is back, sans Tyson/Mr. Dream, and according to reviews better than ever. In a series of promotional videos from Nintendo (that we can’t embed here) we re-connect with Little Mac who is still reeling from losing his title in ’87, which according to Nintendo was 15 years ago, and trainer Doc Lewis (Isiah Whitlock Jr. aka Clay Davis from The Wire). Evidently Cutty was unavailable. Unfortunately I don’t think that the game developers incorporated any of the following into the game:

Mike Tyson Greenlights Jamie Foxx for his Bio Pic

“Ray” Oscar-winner and the former Steamin Willie Beamen, Jamie Foxx, may be playing Mike Tyson in his bio pic. Word on the street is that Iron Mike has given Foxx his blessing for the role (and really, do you want to be on Tyson’s bad side?).

I don’t know much else about this movie, but I’d be interested to see the rest of the supporting cast. Put my money’s on Megan Goode as Robin Givens–she’s had experience dating Foxx so it won’t be much acting for her to enjoy spending his money.

Of course, Foxx has prior experience with this role as well. He’s had the Tyson nailed since at least 1990. Enjoy the verbally adept Foxx on In Living Color, back in the days of VHS:

Wii Punch Out video released

Little Mac and Punch Out return to Nintendo next week. This time, it will be via the Wii, and not the old school, 8-bit, Nintendo.

The Hangover Red Band Trailer: Mike Tyson Sings Phil Collins

If you’ve been watching the NBA playoffs, you’ve definitely noticed the ads for The Hangover, which (so far) is shaping up to be a potential man standard. But if you’ve been watching tv, you missed the red band trailer–the one they only show to R rated audiences. Check Mike Tyson’s most soulful performance since, ever.

This Week in Sports

New Term: Anyone who is hung over, stoned or just happens to be feeling or looking like crap will now be termed as looking a little “Hatton-ish”. Thusly anyone who in the words of Smokey “Got Knocked the F*ck out” will be said to have gotten “Hattoned”.
