• Rodney Rogers Paralyzed

    Former Wake Forest star and NBA player Rodney Rogers is being transferred from Duke Hospital to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta after a severe injury on his all-terrain vehicle. Not much is known about the injury, however, Roger’s coach at Wake Forest, Dave Odom, has said that Rodney is paralyzed from the shoulders down.

    Rogers had a stellar career at Wake Forest, and while his NBA career did not go as planned, he had some very memorable moments. The one that I remember the most was watching Rodney as a rookie on February 8, 1994 against the Utah Jazz make 3 3-pointers in 9 seconds to almost bring the win to the Nuggets. Unfortunately, Jeff Malone ruined the momentum by hitting a jumper with 12 seconds left.

    From all of us at InGameNow, I would like wish Rodney best of luck with his recovery. I know he always played with all he could, and will do all he can to recover fully.

    The New York Knicks beat the Golden State Warriors 138-125 at MSG.

    Chris Duhon set a Knicks team record with 22 assists. Duhon broke Richie Guerin’s team record of 21 assists previously set on December 12th, 1958. His line for the night, 12 pts, 22 ast, 4 reb.

    Corey Maggette put up huge numbers for the Warriors. He shot 12-20 from the field and ended up with 32 pts, 12 reb, 2 ast.

    Coach Mike Krzyzewski and the Duke Blue Devils take a lot of heat for not performing well in the NBA. Last night, former Blue Devils Chris Duhon and Corey Maggette proved otherwise.

    Amare Stoudemire of the Phoenix Suns seems a tad jealous the Lebron James Free Agency tour that is the most discussed aspect on the NBA (despite being two years away). Amare too will be a free agent and he doesn’t seem too thrilled that no one is discussing his talent and next mega deal. When talking to Stephen A Smith of ESPN, he offered up those precise sentiments… and while he didn’t explicitly fawn over other geographies / teams (ie Lebron :: New York Knicks), it is clear that the best PF / Center on the market will entertain any and ever option:

    Asked whether he thinks about his own availability in 2010, Stoudemire didn’t hesitate: “Absolutely! You have to look at those opportunities because this is a business and you want to explore every option. I guarantee you every owner will explore their options, especially when a player’s contract is up. So it’s the same for players. It’s definitely the same for me.

    “As a player, you should look at the teams you might want to play for. The city you may want to live in. The system you may want to play in. The economy. The cost of living. Everything. It’s about what’s best for you.”
