• Week 13 NFL Picks: Colts, Giants, Bills & Bears

November 28th, 2008 | By InGameNow Posted in NFL, Picks & Odds

Each week, InGameNow’s prognosticators, Jack and I, do an NFL Pick-em against the spread. It works like this: we rotate picks - so if Jack picks first, he will take the game that he likes best. I then pick my next two favorite games… and so on. At the end of the week, the person who picked more games correctly wins.

After being in a stalemate at 3-3-3 going into Week 10, I won the last three weeks and am off to a fourth straight week after going perfect on Thanksgiving Football (Titans, Cowboys & Eagles!). What a streak … so ride me and bet against Jack.

So go ahead. Bet your mortgage on these four picks… we have been so hot recently that they are guaranteed winners losers. because that’s just how these things work!

  • Sage Rosenfels Fumbles Ball, Wins Game for the Colts. Video

October 6th, 2008 | By InGameNow Posted in NFL

Sage Rosenfels had a 10 point lead and the pall in the Colt’s territory with three minutes to go when he decided to imitate the John Elway leap and go Hellicopter… but Michigan star Marlin Jackson nailed him, causing a fumble and a Gary Bracket 70 yard dash for the Touchdown. This game pins the Texans at 0-4 and saves the Colts at 2-2 (who really should have been 1-3 had Sage Rosenfels been anything close to smart with the ball).

  • Where to Draft Peyton Manning?

August 25th, 2008 | By Josh Posted in NFL

As you prepare for your Fantasy Football draft (ok, drafts) this week, one question you have to be struggling with is how to value Peyton Manning heading into this season.  The latest reports are that he will return to practice on Tuesday this week - obviously a good sign that he might be ready for the regular-season opener against the Bears.  However, others are reporting that Manning and the team are seriously considering keeping Peyton on the sidelines through the team’s week 4 bye in order to give him an opportunity for a full recovery.

Even if he was healthy, big questions remain about what touchdown machine Marvin Harrison’s production will be like this year - given his health concerns and run-ins with the law this offseason.  Obviouly Reggie Wayne is a major stud, but he is clearly much better when Marvin is on the field.  Anthony Gonzalez showed flashes as a rookie last year, but his 3 TDs were not exactly Harrison like numbers.

Over the last several years, Peyton has been a solid late first round / early second round pick and has always been the first QB off the board.  Brady will clearly take the first QB thron from him this year, but how far should you let Peyton slip.  If he is available when you pick in the 2nd round can you pass him up?  Should you take Tony Romo before him?

Given that I like a number of second and third-tier QBs this year - Rothlisberger, Warner, Rivers, and even John Kitna who I think will have a very solid year in Detroit - I am going to avoid Peyton in the 2nd round in favor of grabbing a stud WR or a #2 RB.  However, with a solid RB/WR combo or two RBs I would jump at the opportunity to add Peyton in the 3rd round as it is hard to pass on a potential 20-point per game guy at that point in the draft… though I have to admit, I am getting bad vibes, not Shaun Alexander last year bad vibes but bad, and I have a feeling that if I do end up with Peyton on my team I will regret it.

    Where would you take him?
