• Dana White has a Few Words for the EliteXC Management

October 14th, 2008 | By Daniel Posted in MMA

UFC President Dana White had a few choice words for EliteXC after the Kimbo Slice/Seth Petruzelli 13 second debacle last week. He appears to be a bit peeved about the notion of the fight being thrown and how the EliteXC suits are ruining the sport. White has been known to produce good soundbtyes, and he drops quite a few F-bombs in this one.

I’m sure this has nothing to do with him opportunistically leveraging the publicity to show how much better his UFC product is than that other league. He might as well take the shots while EliteXC still exists.

By the way, the Browns just manhandled the Superbowl Champion Giants last weekend while the Pats choked against San Diego. Just saying.

  • UFC 88: Rashad Evans Knocks Chuck Liddell Out Til Tomorrow

Round one from UFC 88: Rashad Evans vs. Chuck Liddell:

Jordan Breen scores the round: 10-9 Liddell
TJ De Santis scores the round: 10-9 Liddell
Mike Fridley scores the round: 10-9 Liddell

But in Round two, Rashad Evans connected

After trading blows, Liddell was gets hit while throwing a punch and went out cold and motionless. Liddell was on the canvas motionless for several minutes before getting ‘awoken.’

    Analysis from Yahoo:

Light heavyweights: Rashad Evans (17-0-1) def. Chuck Liddell (21-6)

    How: TKO, 1:51 round two
Key moment: Evans, after not having landed many strikes, suddenly connected with a punishing overhand right that knocked Liddell out.
Analysis: Liddell made the same mistake he made when he lost his light heavyweight belt last year to Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. He went to throw an uppercut and Evans caught him with a booming overhand right. The win will zoom Evans to the top of the division and places him squarely among the UFC’s elite at 205 pounds. Liddell has lost three of his last four and there at least has to be thought if he’s come to the end of the line of a spectacular career.

September 5th, 2008 | By InGameNow Posted in MMA

Chuck Liddell talks about Saturday’s fight vs. Rashad Evans after virtually visiting the ESPN Sportscenter Live studio this morning. This marks yet another UFC promotion / interview on ESPN this week… and thats more than they have ever covered UFC previously (combined). Not sure if this is a sign that Dana White and ESPN are cozying up together or, more likely, that ESPN is realizing how difficult it is to fill the “live” sportscenter shows with unique, “live” content.
