Omega Releases Photos of Michael Phelps, Cavic 100 Meter Fly Finish
August 24th, 2008 | By InGameNow Posted in Olympics
Good look figuring out what this sequence means…. in fact, it makes it more difficult to decipher the finish!
Omega timer Silvio Chianese, says the results are clear: “In the third set of images, with Phelps on the left, it is clear he is really pushing hard, while Cavic, on the right, is just arriving,” Chianese told The Associated Press on Saturday.
“Any less and waves would set it off,” Chianese said. “You can’t just put your fingertips on the pad, you really have to push it. We explained all this directly after the race to (Cavic) and his coach.”

Ryan Hall Finishes 10th, Samuel Wanjiru Wins Olympic Marathon
August 24th, 2008 | By InGameNow Posted in Olympics
Samuel Wanjiru pulled away over the final few miles become the first Kenyan in the storied running history of that nation to win an Olympic marathon. The 21-year-old negotiated the 26.2-mile (42.15-kilometer) course through the Beijing streets in bright Sunday morning sunshine in an Olympic record of 2 hours, 6 minutes, 32 seconds.
Ryan Hall, the American superstar marathoner who amazingly has only run four marathons in his lifetime, was on a different pace the entire time. Samuel Wanjiru was out fast and didn’t seem bothered by the 80+ degree Beijing heat… unlike Ryan. Ryan did send this message to his supporters just a few hours before the race began.
Hall, who holds the American record in the half-marathon, with a time of 59:23, finished tenth competing for the United States in the marathon at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

To my family of Big Bear:
As I sit here typing this email from the Olympic Village I can hardly believe that in less than 12 hours time I will be out there running. I want to thank you in sharing in this journey. I have been truly blessed by you all. The send off was one of the best moments of my life. Never have I felt so supported and loved.
Part of me wishes that I could be there watching with you all, but I guess that would kind of defeat the purpose of you all watching. I hope that you all enjoy the race. Know that you are not simply watching but through every mile you have run you have participated in the Olympic marathon with me. No one else out there has a million miles behind them.
I will be putting myself in beautiful Big Bear in my minds eye as I am out in the hot and humid streets of Beijing and I will have all of you in my heart as I run. I pray that the Lord shows you the power of a community that is united together. I have certainly tasted it and will be forever changed as a result. Thanks for all your support. I hope to make you proud. Keep being a lighthouse in our community.
Ryan

Roger Federer Might Not Be Better than Rafael Nadal… But He’s Weirder
August 23rd, 2008 | By InGameNow Posted in Olympics
Look, if you can’t defeat Rafael Nadal…
And you can’t medal in the Beijing Olympics alone….
You have to place a hex on your Olympics tennis partner to win doubles gold. And while playing against the US men’s tennis team, Roger Federer did just that to Swiss compatriot Stanislas Wawrinka, much to the interest of their American opponents.

The pumped-up pair clinched and swapped spit at a celebratory bash outside the Olympic Village.”

Preparing for Usain Bolt’s 200 Meters with Michael Johnson’s 200 World Record: 19.32
August 19th, 2008 | By InGameNow Posted in Olympics
I remember specifically where I was during this race.
And I remember specifically how I felt / stood in awe during the race.I am excited to see Usain Bolt attempt to break the mark of 19.32 and cause Michael Johnson’s face to give off a wonderful, way-too-much-botox look. If Johnson was awe struck by Usain’s “I’m-only-half-trying” 100 meter dash, what will he look like when Bolt runs a 19.2?!
