Week 12 NFL Picks: Locks are Patriots, Panthers, Giants, Colts
November 22nd, 2008 | By InGameNow Posted in Picks & Odds
Each week, InGameNow’s prognosticators, Jack and I, do an NFL Pick-em against the spread. It works like this: we rotate picks - so if Jack picks first, he will take the game that he likes best. I then pick my next two favorite games… and so on. At the end of the week, the person who picked more games correctly wins.
After being in a stalemate at 3-3-3 going into Week 10, I won the last two weeks and have a 5-3-3 lead on Jack. I feel particularly good this week (lots of locks)… so I am parlaying my winnings and going big against Jack.
So go ahead. Bet your mortgage on these four picks… we have been so hot recently that they are guaranteed winners losers. because that’s just how these things work!
Locks (our first four picks):
1. Patriots at Dolphins +1
2. Panthers at Falcons -1

Jets vs. Patriots: Thursday Night Football Picks
November 13th, 2008 | By InGameNow Posted in Picks & Odds
New York Jets vs. New England Patriots.
Eric Magini vs. Bill Belichick.
AFC East division leader vs. AFC East division leader.
Brett Favre vs. Tom Brady.… oops. Matt Cassel. But regardless, what a freaking match up with have tonight (hope you have the NFL Network folks). Winners takes the AFC East lead - and with the remaining schedule, a Patriots win might just be the division!
As part of our weekly NFL Picks, InGameNow’s prognosticators, Jack and I, do an NFL Pick-em against the spread. It works like this: we rotate picks - so if Jack picks first, he will take the game that he likes best. I then pick my next two favorite games… and so on.
Jack took this game (the eighth pick of the week’s 16 games)… his take:
New England Patriots -3 vs. the New York Jets
And you know what? We are perfect on Thursday Night Football… so go ahead… bet your pride and jump behind Jack.

Breaking: Daunte Culpepper to Start for Detroit Lions
November 9th, 2008 | By InGameNow Posted in NFL
It’s official!
Daunte Culpepper is going to be starting for the Detroit Lions today against the Jacksonville Jaguars… awesome! We fought long and hard to get Daunte on the New England Patriots (sadly they didn’t answer our request) - but I will live vicariously through Lions fans. That’s right: go Lions and perhaps they break the 0-8 start behind big Daunte?
On a side note:
This either means that:
1) Daunte was very impressive in his 3 days of work for the Lions
2) Drew Stanton was very unimpressiveThe answer is hopefully with #1 but probably right between the two.

Jerry Jones, You’ve Just Crossed Over Into…The Al Davis Zone
October 18th, 2008 | By Sean Finerty Posted in NFL
*dee dee dee do dee dee dee do dee dee dee do dee dee dee do*
You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension; a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You are moving into a land of both shadow and substance of things and ideas. You’ve just crossed over into the Al Davis Zone.
Things in Oakland weren’t always in turmoil. From 2000 to 2002, they had a Pro Bowl quarterback in Rich Gannon and 3 straight AFC West divisional titles. They even made it as far as the Super Bowl in 2002, before being stopped by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and former Raider head coach, Jon Gruden.
But since then, the Raiders haven’t managed more than 5 wins in a season. This is about the same time as Al Davis went off the deep end. Since the start of the 2003 season, Davis has gone through five head coaches. It’s gotten so bad that the Oakland head coaching gig is so undesired that I think I - with absolutely zero organized football experience - have a decent shot at the job if I wanted it. Sorry, Mr. Davis, I don’t. The current state of the Raiders makes the other team across the Bay look like they’ve got it all together.
So what does this have to do with Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones? Well, Jones is headed that direction - he’s about to cross over into the Al Davis zone. Sure, the Cowboys are one of the NFL’s best teams…now. But we’re starting to see Jerry Jones meddle with the team - interfering with head coach Wade Phillips’s ability to do his job. Phillips wants to rest quarterback Tony Romo and his broken finger, cautious to prevent further injury that could result in season-ending surgery. As for Jones? He says Romo is playing. Starting to see a parallel here?
Just wait - Phillips will crumble under Jones’ pressure, Romo will play this weekend, only to find the injury get worse and lead to possible hand amputation. The Cowboys fall off dramatically, and can only muster 4 wins next year. Jones will be forced to trade newly acquired wide receiver Roy Williams to the San Diego Chargers for a 6th round pick, a la the Raiders shipping Randy Moss to the Patriots. And, of course, expect a coaching carousel for one of the league’s proudest franchises.
Take note, Robert Kraft.
