In the midst of watching the Atlanta Braves and my fantasy baseball team blow a massive lead in Philadelphia, I caught a glimpse of this demonic child on my MLB.tv-graced computer monitor. It reminded me immediately why I hate Philadelphia teams and Philly fans:

It’s safe to say that Derek Lowe’s first outing with the Atlanta Braves went pretty well. Lowe allowed 2 hits in 8 innings, striking out 4 and walking none, as the Braves beat the Phillies 4-1.

There’s less of Brett Myers this year. The Phillies starter lost 35 pounds, which he credited to his off-season diet. “Making smarter choices while you drink beer,” he said. “Instead of pizza, eat salad. Play for the tie.”

Heidi Strobel, wife of Philadelphia Phillies 2008 World Series MVP Cole Hamels, has recently stated she is in the process of adopting an AIDS orphan from Africa. Comparisons have been made to Angelina Jolie, a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN. Angelina Jolie has a total of 6 children. Three were conceived with husband Brad Pitt, and three were adopted from third world countries.

Pat Burrell may not be as hot of a free agent signing as the New York Yankees trio of CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett, and Mark Teixeira, but he should make a splash with his new team. As of right now, reports are coming out that that team will be the Tampa Bay Rays. I guess [...]

Jamie Moyer just got a two-year deal worth $16MM from the World Series champion Philadelphia Phillies. In other words, Jamie Moyer will pitch into his 60s. Now I cannot be too critical - Moyer was indeed part of the Phillies World Series campaign… and a valuable inning-eater at that. But two years at $8,000,000 per? [...]
