Kevin Williams, Pat Williams, Charles Grant, Deuce McAllister, Will Smith Suspended
December 2nd, 2008 | By InGameNow Posted in NFL
Very bad timing for the Vikings and Saints to lose key players to four-game drug suspensions. Charles Grant, Deuce McAllister and Will Smith of the New Orleans Saints, Bryan Pittman of the Houston Texans, and Kevin Williams and Pat Williams of the Minnesota Vikings are now suspended for the final four games of the NFL season - and that’s particularly important since the Vikings and Saints are fighting dearly for a playoff spot.
An interesting side note:
The Vikings are playing the Detroit Lions and remain the only really “likely / possible” victory… without Kevin Williams and Pat Williams, maybe drugs have kept the Lions from 0-16?!
The NFL suspended six players for four games each on Tuesday for violating the NFL Policy on Anabolic Steroids and Related Substances.
The suspended players are Charles Grant, Deuce McAllister and Will Smith of the New Orleans Saints, Bryan Pittman of the Houston Texans, and Kevin Williams and Pat Williams of the Minnesota Vikings.
The suspensions, which cover the final four games of the regular season, are without pay.
The players specifically violated a longstanding provision of the policy relating to the use of diuretics and water pills, which serve as masking agents for steroids and are potentially dangerous to the health of players.
The policy states that the use of so-called “blocking” or “masking” agents, including diuretics and water pills, is prohibited and that a positive test will not be excused because it results from the use of a dietary supplement that unknowingly contained a banned substance. Supplements are not regulated or monitored by the government and players have been warned about the risks of supplement use.
“You and you alone are responsible for what goes into your body,” the policy has always stated. “Claiming that you used only legally available nutritional supplements will not help you in an appeal…Even if they are bought over-the-counter from a known establishment, there is currently no way to be sure that they contain the ingredients listed on the packaging or have not been tainted with prohibited substances…If you take these products, you do so AT YOUR OWN RISK! For your own health and success in the league, we strongly encourage you to avoid the use of supplements altogether, or at the very least to be extremely careful about what you choose to take.”

Adrian Peterson Pulls A Tractor Trailer Truck
September 9th, 2008 | By InGameNow Posted in NFL
It didn’t help Purple Jesus beat Aaron Rodgers tonight (but he was damn good)… but it does define Beast Mode for Adrian Peterson. This video shows AP pulling a big rig tractor trailer. The only thing cooler would be if he was doing this on Ice Truckers:

Aaron Rodgers Gets First Win: Green Bay Packers 24, Minnesota Vikings 19
September 9th, 2008 | By InGameNow Posted in NFL
Brett Favre impressed in his New York Jets win…
… but Aaron Rodgers sure did impress in his Green Bay Packers game against a stout Minnesota Vikings defense!C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT
18/22 178 8.1 1 0Not a lot of yardage…. but 18/22 defines efficiency. And no turn overs sure does the job. Rodgers also added a eight rushes for 36 yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile Tarvaris Jackson is not good (as we predicted) and he threw a critical interception on the game’s last drive to end it. In all fairness, it is very tough to tell whether that was his fault or his receivers.

NFL Picks: Week 1 NFL Locks from InGameNow`
September 4th, 2008 | By InGameNow Posted in NFL, Picks & Odds
Over at IGN we have decided to offer a few ideas on betting this NFL season. We will offer two can’t miss bets, and two solid bets for the degenerate gamblers out there. We will have basic commentary on our thought process.
Jack Can’t Miss:
Atlanta Falcons (+3) over Detroit Lions
Atlanta getting 3 at home is my lead pipe lock of the week in this shootout of crapsters. I predict a final score of 21-20, and don’t care who actually wins. Detroit is getting too much respect going into this season, in power rankings and in fantasy projections, and Atlanta is getting too little. And you have to love home dogs on opening weekend.
Minnesota Vikings (+2.5) over Green Bay Packers
Minnesota could have the best defense in the league. The presure Erin Rogers is under is significantly greater than any other QB in the league. There is no way this untested neophyte will prevaile on MNF. As soon as Erin throws his first pick, Wisconsin will be a state in a state of emergency. Bush should get the national guard in ASAP. The Vikings will run for 175 yards, powered by AP.
Degenerates Delite:
New York football Giants(-4.5) over Washington Redskins
Being an Eagles fan I tend to give none of the NFC East teams the respect they (occasionally) deserve. I may be 1-9 against the spread betting against Washington over the past few years, but that won’t stop me from doing it again. The redskins will be absolutely atrocious this year, and the Giants feel like they have a lot to prove out of the gate as defending champs. As much as it pains me to call the team that cost me thousands of dollars on the superbowl a four-star lock, here you have it.
New York Jets (-3) over Miami Dolphins
Easy bet here. Favre is a winner. Pennington is a looser. Miami is without Jason Taylor. NY is with Bret Favre. Rickey Williams is the best player on Miami’s offense? This is a safe choice here. There is a chance Miami won’t see the end zone.

Is Michael Phelps the Jared Allen of the pool? Minnesota Vikings DE thinks so
August 16th, 2008 | By InGameNow Posted in InGameNow, NFL, Olympics
In an interview with Bob Sansevere, Jared Allen of the Minnesota Vikings was asked if Michael Phelps is the Jared Allen of the pool. To which the humble defensive end replied, “I’d like to think so.” Is he serious? Should the league test him immediately for performance-inhibiting drugs, like marijuana, or crack? While Phelps was winning his 5th Olympic gold medal in 5 tries, Allen was held to no stats in a preseason game with the Seattle Seahawks.
Sure a preseason game doesn’t mean anything, so it’s like comparing apples to oranges. And I agree, if apples win gold medals, and oranges are part of a defense that gives up 4 passing TDs in the preseason. The Vikings gave up a lot to get Allen and expect great things, but Allen better keep his mouth shut until he starts getting some sacks when it counts.
